How to Commit Adultery

How to Commit Adultery
During this series we have looked some bad guidance. Things that we know are not right yet often we allow ourselves to think and the way that we live looks like it is good guidance.

Sunday we looked at how to commit adultery. If you marriage and relationships are going well and yet we want to through it all away here were the steps to commit adultery. 1. Neglect your marriage. 2. Enjoy common interests and form an emotional bond with someone else. 3. Make excuses and rationalize your actions.
Now we know that none of us start out planning on doing this in our marriage but if we do not have Jesus as first in our life we can come to buy into the lie that the "Grass is greener on the other side."

I said Sunday that if it does look greener it is time to start watering your own lawn. Meaning it is time to invest in your own marriage. So in order to avoid committing adultery, do whatever it takes to 1. Radically reduce the risks. By keeping a growing relationship with Christ. Never be alone with the wrong people. Never talk bad about your spouse. Surround yourself with strong marriages and avoid all inappropriate places and situations.

Secondly, invest passionately in your marriage and third, Visualize the potential destruction. Imagine the conversations and what the devastation can be for you and your family.

There is good news even if you fail. The good news is that when we are unfaithful, God is faithful. He is faithful that He will be with us to help us and offers forgiveness, grace and mercy to us. 2 Timothy 2:11-13 reminds us, "Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with Him, we will also live with Him; if we endure, we will also reign with Him. If we disown Him, He will also disown us; if we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot disown Himself."

His grace, mercy and forgiveness are here for us to help us get back on track and stay on track. I hope this series has helped you and caused you to take a good look at your heart and life.

Looking forward to a great day tomorrow and hope to see you at 9 or 10:45 am.
