Living in Peace
We wrapped our series on Sunday with looking at not just being a peace-keeper but a peace-maker. Our time is too short on this earth to live without unity and peace in our relationships.
Ephesians 4:3 reminds us, “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." We do this by confronting humbly. Asking God to help us with the time and when we need to confront. We cannot have the peace and the forgiveness to restore the relationship until we confront, we own our responsibility for the break of the relationship.
We are able to do this because we love deeply. 1 Peter 4:8 reminds us, "Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins." Christ's love lived out through us can help us to love and bring about the forgiveness that is needed in the relationship.
Third, we must forgive irrationally. Colossians 3:13 reminds us once again, "Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another forgive as the Lord forgave you." This is one of the toughest verses to live out. Especially when we know all the details. My prayer is that with God's help and His power in us we can and will come to this moment.
Our time on this earth is short and when we take into account all that God has forgiven us for, then we must consider who must each of us forgive or that we need to ask forgiveness from. When we take responsibility for our own sin, admitting that we have messed up and cleared our own heart with God then we can truly move to the next steps with His help.
Look forward to beginning a new series tomorrow and I know that Sunday will be a great day!
