Here's a 5-day Bible reading plan and devotional guide.

Day 1: Trusting God in Disappointment Reading: 1 Samuel 1:1-20 Devotional: Hannah's story reminds us that even in our deepest disappointments, God hears our prayers. Like Hannah, we may face situations where God seems silent or inactive. Yet, her persistence in prayer and worship demonstrates the power of unwavering faith. Today, reflect on areas in your life where you feel disappointed or let down. How can you, like Hannah, continue to pour out your heart to God while maintaining your faith? Remember, a waiting season is never a wasted season. God is working even when we can't see it. Consider journaling your honest feelings to God, then make a commitment to worship Him despite your circumstances.

Day 2: The Goodness of God Reading: Psalm 34:1-10 Devotional: The sermon emphasized that God's goodness isn't based on our circumstances, but on His unchanging nature. David, who wrote this psalm, experienced both triumphs and deep sorrows, yet he consistently praised God's goodness. As you read, notice how David encourages others to "taste and see that the Lord is good." Today, challenge yourself to recognize God's goodness in your life, especially in unexpected places. How might shifting your focus to God's inherent goodness, rather than your current situation, change your perspective? Consider starting a "goodness journal" where you record daily examples of God's goodness, no matter how small.

Day 3: Perseverance in Prayer Reading: Luke 18:1-8 Devotional: Jesus' parable of the persistent widow echoes Hannah's determination in prayer. Both stories highlight the importance of continual, heartfelt prayer, even when answers seem delayed. Reflect on your own prayer life. Have you given up on praying for something because you haven't seen results? Remember, God's delays are not necessarily denials. How can you renew your commitment to persistent prayer? Consider setting aside dedicated time each day this week to pray specifically for that long-awaited request, trusting in God's perfect timing and wisdom.

Day 4: Finding God in Suffering Reading: Romans 8:18-28 Devotional: Paul's words remind us that even in our suffering, God is present and working for our good. This passage acknowledges the reality of pain and struggle, yet points to a greater hope. Like Hannah, who endured years of ridicule and heartache, we too can trust that God is with us in our darkest moments. Today, reflect on a difficult situation you're facing. How might God be using this to shape you or work out His purposes? Ask the Holy Spirit to help you see your circumstances through the lens of God's love and eternal perspective. Consider sharing your struggle with a trusted friend or mentor, allowing them to support and pray with you.

Day 5: Surrendering Our Desires to God Reading: Matthew 26:36-46 Devotional: Jesus' prayer in Gethsemane is a powerful example of surrendering our deepest desires to God's will. Like Hannah, who vowed to give her longed-for son back to God, Jesus demonstrated complete trust in the Father's plan. This surrender, though painful, led to the greatest miracle of all - our salvation. Today, prayerfully consider what you need to surrender to God. Is there a dream, a relationship, or a plan that you're holding too tightly? How might letting go and trusting God's plan bring you peace? Write a prayer of surrender, offering your desires to God while affirming your trust in His goodness and wisdom.
