He Sees Us : What is God Like? Week 6
Here's a 5-day Bible reading plan and devotional guide based on this message to deepen your understanding.
Day 1: The God Who Sees Reading: Genesis 16:7-13 Devotional: Today we reflect on El Roi, the God who sees us. Like Hagar in the wilderness, we may sometimes feel alone, unseen, or forgotten. But this passage reminds us that God sees us in our distress and meets us there. He knows us by name and cares deeply about our situation. Take a moment to consider areas in your life where you feel unseen. Bring these before God, knowing He sees you fully and loves you completely. How might your perspective change if you truly believed God sees and cares about every detail of your life?
Day 2: Finding Hope in God's Promises Reading: Romans 15:13 Devotional: The sermon touched on how the people shouting "Hosanna" were crying out for salvation, filled with hope for deliverance. While their expectations were misplaced, their hope wasn't wrong - just misdirected. Today's verse reminds us that God is the source of all hope. When we trust in Him, we can be filled with joy, peace, and hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Reflect on areas where you need hope today. How can you anchor your hope in God's promises rather than your own expectations? Ask God to fill you with His hope that doesn't disappoint.
Day 3: God's Ways Higher Than Ours Reading: Isaiah 55:8-9 Devotional: We often struggle to understand why God allows suffering if He sees everything. Today's passage reminds us that God's thoughts and ways are higher than ours. Like Hagar, we may sometimes forget God's goodness in our pain. But our limited perspective doesn't negate God's ultimate wisdom and love. Consider a situation in your life that's confusing or painful. How might viewing it through the lens of God's higher ways change your perspective? Ask God for the faith to trust Him even when you don't understand.
Day 4: Clothed in Christ's Character Reading: Colossians 3:12-14 Devotional: As people seen and loved by God, we're called to reflect His character to others. Today's passage instructs us to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. These attributes mirror God's character and Jesus' example. Which of these qualities do you find most challenging to embody? Ask the Holy Spirit to develop this fruit in your life. How can you intentionally demonstrate God's love to someone today through one of these qualities?
Day 5: Seeking the God Who Seeks Us Reading: Jeremiah 29:13 Devotional: Our sermon emphasized that while God sees us, He also desires to be known by us. Today's verse promises that when we seek God wholeheartedly, we will find Him. In a world full of distractions, it's easy to lose focus on our relationship with God. What distractions tend to pull you away from seeking God? How can you create intentional space in your life to seek Him more deeply? Commit to a specific action that will help you seek God "with all your heart" in the coming week.
